The Nordic Library will be renewed. What does your dream library look like?

The library will close for renovation in November and reopen in spring 2026. The last day to visit before the renovation is Thursday, 6 November. We would now like to gather valuable ideas and opinions from those of you who visit and use our library in Kaisaniemi.

Take part in our customer survey

Share your thoughts through an anonymous survey (link opens in a new window), either online or in person at our library in Kaisaniemi. In particular, we are interested in your expectations and wishes for the library’s physical environment.

The survey is open until 6 October.

What will happen during the renovation?

We are developing and renewing the Nordic Library to create even more opportunities for Nordic culture and encounters at our premises in Kaisaniemi.

If you borrow books or renew existing loans during October, you may keep them for the entire renovation period. Ahead of the closure, we are also clearing our shelves and donating books that have not been borrowed for some time – so come and pick up books for your autumn reading!

Although the library will be closed, we will continue to organise events at our Suomenlinna B28 premises and at other venues. You can find information about upcoming programmes in our newsletter, in the events calendar on our website, and on our social media channels.

We would also like to remind you of our new streaming service, Cineast (link opens in a new window), where you can borrow and watch Nordic films with your library card. Haven’t got a card for our Nordic Library yet? Drop by and we’ll be happy to set one up for you!
