Join us for the opening of Mona Marzouk’s new mural painting ”Sunset Drill Scene” in the entrance lobby of Nordic Culture Point.
In the spring of 2020, the Greek-Egyptian visual artist Mona Marzouk won a call arranged by Nordic Culture Point in co-operation with the Nordic investment bank. Marzouk’s conceptual and minimalist murals have previously been displayed at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead in the UK, and the EVA International Biennial in Ireland.
The project “Sunset Drill Scene” consists of a series of figurative hybrid shapes created from fragments of images depicting, for example, animals, weapons, agricultural equipment, and machinery. The imaginative hybrid shapes that emerge during the process paradoxically allude to a variety of areas including ecology, technology, the climate crisis, and the world of finance.
All current recommendations regarding hygiene and social distancing will be observed during the vernissage.
“Sunset Drill Scene” will be exhibited in the entrance until the summer of 2021 and in the display window until the end of October 2020.
