Creating a comic book: Anneli Furumark and Elias Ericson

Protraits of Elias Ericson and Anneli Furmark

Comic book artists Anneli Furmark and Elias Ericson transcend generational boundaries to discuss the creation of comic books. Themes such as friendship, love, and feelings of exclusion unite the production of these two artists. The main characters in Furmark’s and Ericson’s new books are portrayed with both warm humour and darkness. The artists will be interviewed by Lina Bonde.

Anneli Furmark was born in 1962 in Luleå, Sweden, and is one of the country’s most acclaimed comic book creators. She made her debut in 2002 and has since produced half a dozen serial albums, three of which have been awarded the Urhunden Prize for best Swedish serial album. Her comic books have been translated into French and English. Furmark studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Umeå where she also works as a teacher. In the autumn of 2020 she released Gå med mig till hörnet published by Galago.
