The chair of the expert group, Nette Rimpioja, says that the new funding programme had a good reach among its target group, with civil society organisations from across the Nordic Region applying for funding.
The quality of the applications was high, and Rimpioja praises the dedication of the expert group and the constructive discussions that took place throughout the screening process.
“Our discussions covered a lot of ground. We made excellent progress and reached workable compromises. Funding was granted to old and new organisations alike, all with a Nordic focus. The recipients represent both the geographical and thematic breadth of Nordic civil society,” says Rimpioja.
Nordic advantage a deciding factor
Demos administrative funding supports the Nordic Council of Ministers’ aspirations to strengthen civil society organisations. A strong civil society is a cornerstone of Nordic democracy and plays a key role in efforts to deliver on the Nordic prime ministers’ Vision 2030, which aims to make the Nordic Region the most integrated and sustainable region in the world.
“The criteria for Nordic added value and the connection to Vision 2030 were often the deciding factor when weighing good applications against each other,” explains Rimpioja.
In order to be eligible for administrative funding, the organisation must have been established for at least three years and operate year round. The funding was awarded for the period 2025 to 2027 and will next be awarded in the autumn of 2027. The funding is administered by Nordic Culture Point.
