This residency was a deep dive into storytelling that explores the morals and moods of Nordic legends, Scandinavian folklore, ghost stories and horror films, to create a rhythmically unconventional and timeless dance fable.
The artists shared a desire for a long-term international artistic dialogue. All three freelance in many different groups and constellations, and whenever they meet, their corporealities are imbued with countless new stories.
Their work at the residency culminated in the performance THE RAT AND THE HORSE WHO COULDN’T THROW UP – a false fable, an invented tale, expressed through the abstract and timeless media of dance and sound. The performance became a gentle revolution in storytelling, where it did not really matter where the story began or where it would end, how it unfolded, or who was involved and who ought to have been involved. The fable emerged through loops of restless galloping, moralising, hustling, and spiraling.
