Midsummer is spellbound, and this summer we invite you to begin the holiday by joining Pia Lindman as she guides us all to sing together to the Covid-19 virus – so that it may never disrupt our lives again.
For the preparation of this song to the virus, Lindman was inspired by the healing traditions found in the ancient cultures around the Baltic and Arctic Seas. For instance, spells that can be found in Finnish mythology, i.e., loitsu or manaus, are very versatile. Depending on your needs and the situation, you may combine different verses and melodies in many different ways – just like DNA – or virus.
In this workshop, Pia Lindman introduces the participants to a simple melody and a gentle spell that we then sing to atone our global pandemic. Lindman has performed this workshop for and with people around the world since the spring of 2020. This, all-Nordic, singing will be recorded and mixed together with the recordings from previous workshops. Together, this overlaid and mixed soundscape becomes a global incantation of a mass of people singing in a common voice.
