For the last couple of years, Jana has lived in Copenhagen, but in connection with her studies and internship at Nordic Culture Point, she has found her way to Helsinki. She is almost finished with her degree in Nordic Master in Visual Studies and Arts Education (NoVA) at Aalto University.
Having been a teacher, Jana has already gotten theoretical and practical experience with reading encouragement. She has also experience with communication due to her work as a student assistant for a research project at the University of Aalborg, where she managed the project’s social media channels.
In her new role as project developer for the Nordic bookworm, Jana will promote awareness of the project and its related activities. The Nordic bookworm consists of a collection of freely available educational support material for Nordic picture books that have been nominated for the Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize.
“Work that encourages reading is more important than ever before, and I really look forward to getting started working around the Nordic region and meeting everyone who will benefit from and experience the Nordic Bookworm”, Jana says.
In her free time, Jana likes reading contemporary Nordic literature and going to the theatre. Lately, she has found an interest in Korean culture and is currently reading “The Vegetarian” by Han Kang. “Exciting reading”, she remarks.
