During the Open Studio event, Rakel Andrésdóttir will present the work she has developed throughout her residency, including hand-drawn animations, stop-motion experiments, and early material from her children’s animated short film. Visitors will be able to see how she has combined studio work with outdoor processes, creating animations in nature using puppets made from found materials.
The presentation will also reflect her collaboration with Finnish animator Kaisa Penttilä, showcasing new techniques and approaches explored during their time together. Alongside the visual work, Rakel will share insights from her workshops with children and how their ideas—especially around themes like life after death—have shaped her storytelling. The Open Studio offers a glimpse into her creative process and the outcomes of her residency, highlighting her playful yet thoughtful approach to animation.
