Live stream: Fostering reading joy in children and youth

""

In connection with the nominations for the Nordic Council Children’s and Young People’s Literature Prize 2026, we invite you to an event where we will take a closer look at projects that inspire the joy of reading among children and young people. What works? Is there anything that encourages children and young people to read more?

Salomon Hellman, library developer at Nordic Culture Point in Helsinki, will present the nominated books and talk about their project Den nordiska bokslukaren (The Nordic Bookworm).

Hrafnhildur Gissurardóttir, mediator at the Nordic House in Reykjavík, will talk about a project that was particularly successful. It is called “Treet”.

From Aarhus, we will be introduced to the Albus Festival by project manager Sif Lüscher Rauff. How can a festival foster the joy of reading among children and young people?

The event will be held in the Scandinavian languages and English and is organized by the Nordic House in Reykjavík, in collaboration with Nordic Culture Point.

Icelandic time: 4 p.m.
Scandinavian time: 5 p.m.
Finnish time: 6 p.m.
