International Children’s Book Day is celebrated annually on 2nd April, coinciding with the birth of Hans Christian Andersen. The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) coordinates the annual themes of the day. For 2024, Japan is the sponsor, and this year’s theme is “Cross the seas on the wings of your imagination.” You can find more information about the celebration of Children’s Book Day on the IBBY’s website.

IBBY Finland works to promote Finnish children’s and youth literature in Finland and abroad. It also organises events and publishes the magazine “Virikkeitä.”
