Artists Kimmo Schroderus and Mattias Nordéus have been selected for the fourth NordiSKulptur joint exhibition. The last exhibition, which is part of the four-year collaborative project between the Association of Finnish Sculptors and Nordic Culture Point. The exhibition will be on display at Galleria Sculptor 25 November – 18 December 2022. This curated exhibition series has been realised in co-operation with rotating Nordic partner countries. Next year it will be the turn of Sweden to step into this role.

Mattias Nordéus (b. 1978) is a visual artist best known for his angled, wooden objects, blurring boundaries between painting and sculpture. Nordéus designs figures in pine wood which are then painted with acrylic and oil. The characters expressions are inspired partly by the obviously polygonal designs found in early video game animation, partly by canonical formats and grips found in Western art history and partly by the limitations and possibilities of painting. Common in Nordéus figure world is the human search for refuge via rapid stimuli such as games and intoxication. References to war games and real combat occur in the form of recurring soldiers in miniature format, sometimes depicted as protectors while at other times they resemble vulnerable children in need of comfort. Nordéus holds an MFA from the Malmö Art Academy.

Kimmo Schroderus (b. 1970) is an accomplished Finnish sculptor. He graduated from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 1998. Kimmo Schroderus has had numerous private exhibitions both in Finland and internationally, and he has also conducted many public art works. In 2004 Kimmo was awarded the Ars Fennica Award. In his works Schroderus emphasizes the artisan attitude towards art making, his affection for materials and his interest in insightful spatial solutions between the works and the space. www.kimmoschroderus.com
