The Resistance Song Residency at SODAS 2123 is a three-month program in Vilnius, Lithuania, dedicated to exploring resistance, solidarity, and healing through music and sound. Open to sound artists, performers, visual artists, researchers, and activists, the residency fosters research-based inquiry into the role of vocal practices in collective resilience. Six participants will engage in collaborative projects, examining how sound and performance function as acts of resistance and solidarity.

The artists will work on their own research projects and will take turns to be the rotating hosts of the residency homestead, living by two for two months at a time and will have the opportunity to complement their theories of ecological processes and ecosystems with a living and direct presence in the natural environment. In close communion with animals and nature, we invite the artists to rethink the relationship between contemporary humans and the environment in the epoch of the Anthropocene.

The aim of the project is to offer the artists a vibrant environment to accomplish their creative projects. The artists participating in the program will visit 2 different residencies (selected by artist’s choice) and spend 3 weeks in each of them, working on new pieces with professional technical support, expanding their knowledge. The new pieces, written during residency period, will be premiered in two contemporary music festivals, having close partnerships to both residency centres.

The Hands on Press residency invites artists whose practice focuses on small editions of printed matter. The main objective of the self-directed artist-in-residence program is to set up an opportunity for Nordic artists, illustrators and/or visual researchers to explore their own creativity through self-publishing and riso-printing, within the context of Kaunas, Lithuania and its creative community.

Rupert applies to support five 2 month residencies focused on interdisciplinary art practices. 2 artists are chosen through thematic open calls in a new initiative. 2 more are chosen through our annual residency open calls. 1 artist is directly invited by the Rupert team. Each includes curatorial support and stipends for production, travel, and expenses. All residents have opportunities for collaboration and public engagement, reinforcing Rupert’s strong history of Nordic-Baltic cooperation.

The Trainspotting Art Residency invites four sound artists/ workgroups from Nordic and Baltic countries for a residency across a four month period. Through a focus of placemaking, artists will create sound works for train passengers based on their experiences of Švenčionėliai – a derelict town built around a train station, transformed by creative community “Miško uostas”. The residency invites a sonic discovery of the town’s heritage through engagement with its developing local community.

The Festivity Residency programme, organized by Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artist Association (LIAA) is dedicated to the research and artistic interpretation of the holiday phenomenon. The Festivity Residency is open for the artists, art and humanities researchers, and activists who are exploring the phenomenon and elements of different celebrations in their practice. 6 participants will be selected by open call for a 3 month long residency in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The International Centre for Translators and Writers (ICTW) invites literary creators from the Nordic and Baltic countries to apply for residencies of 2 months. Literary creators working with text are working focused and undisturbed in Nida, which is located on the Curonian Spit, UNESCO World Heritage site. Residents have a cultural program to discover the land of the coast and its cultural context. Residents can present their workS at an event at the end of the residency season.

SODAS 2123 artist in residency program focus on the future scenarios of the biodiversities of the urban. Through the architecture, sound and curatorial research medias the creators selected via Open Call will explore the spacial, social, post-ecological art peripheries in the buzzling cultural center SODAS 2123. The residency offers networking, studio visits and unique opportunities to live and work in the multidisciplinary artists community surrounded by the newest cultural processes and ideas

Baltic Shorts Residency is a short film script development residency program dedicated to the filmmakers from Baltic countries who are willing to dive deep into the writing process along with professional consultations. Its purpose is to give 3 selected scriptwriters or film directors the opportunity to work in the dedicated artscape being mentored by a script consultant in order to deliver a fully finished script of the short film.

Support is applied for six, 2 month-long residencies. Three organised by invitation and three through the Open Call in 2021 and 2022. Project focuses on cross-disciplinary art practices, alternative education in arts and cultural exchange. All 6 residencies will provide curatorial support and assistance, stipends towards accommodation, production costs, travel, daily expenses. Each resident will have a wide range of representation possibilities and will reinforce Nordic-Baltic collaboration.

In response to the pandemic’s effects on artists’ working conditions, NAC offers stipends and a safe, calm, and focused working environment in order for practitioners to not only bridge this difficult time, but also to use it as a possibility to move on and explore new production possibilities. Material-based processes, research and work with local materials, especially timber and wool, “the forest” as a topic, are central themes of NAC residency programmes in 2022 and 2023.

Residency aims to develop multilateral cultural, creative and cognitive exchanges at ICTW.
Two artists will be selected among applicants. Residency duration – 2 months.
Residency activities:
Artist lives and creates literary work during residency period;
Resident attends & organises scheduled events to present himself, his previous and current works and activities, meet with local and foreign artists, residents, cultural specialists and local community;
Dissemination and exploitation of results.

The residency programme at Nida Art Colony (NAC) offers space and comfortable conditions to professional artists and practitioners working with visual culture for focused and undisturbed work in Nida, a remote UNESCO World Heritage Site. NAC is surrounded by the unique landscape of the Curonian spit: forest, sand dunes, and the sea. The residency programme has a special focus on material-based processes, actively researching and working with local materials, especially local timber.

We will organize 5 blocks of 2 month-long residency periods. At least two artists from Baltic-Nordic region will stay during each block. Guest residents will work within Sodas 2123 complex, operated by LTMKS. Each residency block will have its own topic/outcome:

Kaunas Photography Gallery residency seeks to provide an opportunity for artists from Baltic and Nothern region to realise the connection between photographic traditions and new conceptual projects, presenting innovative contemporary undertakings as well as traditional humanistic photography projects. With the residency programme we closely interact with talented emerging or established artists and encourage them to develop and realise their ideas.

Support is applied for 6, 2 month-long residencies: 3 by invitation production based artist residencies and 3 themed production based residencies selecting participant projects via Open Calls. Residencies will to rethink and focus on collective and individual political identities, technological effects on new models political geographies and engagement and alternative education in arts. All 6 residencies will provide stipends towards accommodation, production costs, travel etc.

DAR residency would like to apply for a program which involves work with artists from Baltic and Nordic region and consists from 2 projects:
1/Resident exchange between DAR residency in Lithuania and MoKS residency in Estonia.
2/United project with contemporary music performance and improvisation students at Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and lecturers Vykintas Baltakas, Liudas Mockūnas and 4 international residents (2 are planned from Nordic or Baltic regions)
