Why do we write in two different duck ponds, when we share the same language? The distance between Swedish and Finland-Swedish is perhaps greater than ever, and this is not least noticeable in literature. Only a few Finland-Swedish authors receive attention in the Swedish media, and cultural debates often take place in parallel rather than moving across national borders.
The podcast Gästabudet is out on a Nordic tour in 2025 to shake up the cross-Nordic literary conversation. They land in Helsinki to talk with Ylva Perera, literary editor at Hufvudstadsbladet and doctoral student in literary studies at Åbo Akademi. The topic of the conversation is the relationship between Swedish and Finland-Swedish literature, yesterday and today. Welcome!
Gästabudet is a Swedish podcast about literature that premiered in 2019. It is made primarily by Mikaela Blomqvist and Lyra Ekström Lindbäck with guests and is published approximately twice a month.
The event is arranged in collaboration with Gästabudet and Kritikbyrån.
